Venice ............... lovely........ but no seats for a fag and a people-watch? and masks??? if you have clown-ophobia then dont go!!
yes, it snowed on our cultural sunday out, but not as much as in the UK - so 29 hours later and numerous cancelled flights we were back in the UK!
Our "countries" event to venice took us to:
stanstead, treviso airport, venice, treviso airport, the town of treviso, treviso airport, possibly stanstead, possibly liverpool, treviso (crazy B&B), mestre, brescia, bergamo, bergamo airport (aka milan for ryanair passengers), possibly bristol, possibly bournemouth, possibly bristol,.............. yay bristol!, possibly swindon, not swindon, london paddington, london stansted.......... home!!
oh yeah, we went to venice!!! cool place, lots of bridges, lots of steps, aqua water despite the dog poo and more bridges! highlights : peggy guggenheim museum, harrys bar (7 euro for a hot chocolate!), walking in the rain and snow and still smiling, finding the hidden tower of pisa, drinking cartons of red wine in our room (c'mon it was expensive!), just walking together........
and highlights of the delay? doing a mini-interrail across italy, meeting kind people who i never would have normally met (scousers of course!), the B&B ("ever seen the film hostel nick....... why has this door got a very strong thick bar across it nick?"), realising we can do ok when things get tough, seeing milan again (from a distance), laughing at the words ciabatta and rioja............
a great "real" start to the tour - and a really great tour of italy and the UK too!!
an adventure xx

Ok ........ after failing to get entry to last weeks electric mouse comedy club, we chanced upon "pear-shaped comedy club" in Fitzrovia. Well, not quite chance, the comedy club we wanted to go to was not on, so mac... a comedian we hadn't met, suggested this instead. It was in a small room, with 2 and 5 minute slots - some good, some really good and some really bad!! my dog has no nose........... anyone, anyone?
The room was cosy, no more than 30 people, but some famous geezers had been writing poncey stuff there in years gone by, so we were being cultural at least!
Hello to mowton, who said hi during the evening, and ............ interesting!!!

al and nick's countries and culture tour 2009!
This is a record of our 2009 tour!
The concept is very simple - we do a country or a cultural event every month in 2009. What will happen - who knows! but it will be fun just making sure we do it, a positive resolution for a happy life in 2009.
Hold on to your hats, we are off!
